Summer Art Camp 2007
See pictures from 2007's Monday visit
by Osubi Craig & the
Prophecy Music Project when campers got hands on time with
various African drums, masks, and dancing. Summer school students
at the WV School for the Blind were able to join in the
morning's session to learn about drumming and dance from
Western Africa and the music it has inspired in this
hemisphere.
Each July, HCAC holds a week-long morning summer
camp for youths ages 8 to 13
with a genuine interest in the arts. The
2007 Camp, July 16-20, focused on African
arts, with a special visit by Osubi
Craig and the Prophecy Music Project Monday
morning.
The camp is held on the beautiful campus of the WV Schools for
the Deaf and the Blind.
Instructors are volunteers from the local area who enhance
the camp with their knowledge of the arts and their ability
to engage young people in activities relating to the arts.
2007 Camp coordinators were Nancy Williams and Shelly Draper.
