The Hampshire County Arts Council has asked three local musicians who know
Israel Welch and his music to serve as our scholarship committee. These three
have determined the criteria they will use to make this award.
-be a resident of Hampshire County, WV
-play a traditional instrument (ie. fiddle, dulcimer, banjo, dobro, etc.)
-desire to attend a music camp or workshop like the Augusta Heritage Festival or Common Ground on the Hill (scholarship money will be paid directly to the camp or workshop)
-have your completed application package postmarked no later than January 10, 2003
-include a brief tape of your playing (1 or 2 tunes)
-answer the following two questions: "When and why did you get started playing your instrument?" and "What would you hope to accomplish if you are awarded this scholarship?"
-Send your tape, question answers, and personal information to:
