Mountain Momma
The Mountain Momma Band is one of the living landmark's in Hampshire County. Francis Chilcoat and his wife KC, founded the band in 1973. Over the years the number of members in the band have expanded to as many as nine and as few as two. A good number of well established musicians have played in this band at one time or another.
In the early 1980s the band was known as "The Limit" and in the 1990s shifted closer to its current form. Francis is always open to fresh new ideas and will incorporate added musicians for specific musical styles. Currently, the band plays as a duo or as a threesome with Larry Brown on Congas or as a twosome with just Francis on guitar and KC on bass. With just Francis and KC the focus is more singer/songwriter style or laid back blues and acoustic rock. With Larry Brown on conga drums the band tends to explore unique and subtle rhythms.
