Robin Pancake

A native West Virginian, Robin Pancake is a retired teacher having taught art at Hampshire High School in Romney, WV for 20 years. Art has always been a part of her life and she has worked and experimented with a variety of media. But for many years she concentrated in watercolor.

In 1990, she began working in stained glass and discovered a media that was challenging, versatile and fun. Largely self taught, Robin makes pieces in stained glass ranging from small animals made from glass nuggets to large panels and windows. She also makes suncatchers, kaleidoscopes, 3D stars and other 3D projects. "I enjoy designing a piece of stained glass using colors and textures that show the effects of light on and through the glass. I have found that stained glass is the media through which I am best able to express the beauty of colors and textures working together."

Many of Robin's pieces are original designs. She also uses patterns in different styles and subject matter. A background in drawing enables her to design special commissioned projects. Her studio, Mill Meadow Stained Glass Studio, is located in her home. Work is on display and commissions are accepted.

Visitors are welcome! In addition to working in stained glass, Robin enjoys watercolor painting, experimenting with collage, reading and gardening. She has six grown children and four grandsons.
