Visual Arts
The visual arts side of the HCAC offers a variety of opportunities
for visual artists and those interested in the visual arts.
Individuals may share their talents at art exhibits and festivals,
learn new techniques and/or art processes in workshops and informal
groups, or teach children and adults at
art camps or in seminars. Member artists are featured
in the Member Showcase section of this website.
A Hampshire Highlands Studio Tour is scheduled December
5-7, 2008, featuring work by 18 artists in 13 studios and The Bottling Works in Romney.
Bi-monthly Visual Artists' Meet and Greet gatherings now occur third Sundays at 2PM at The Glasshouse Studio in
Augusta. These sessions are organized for the community's visual
artists to meet to discuss topics of interest including
professional development, work in progress, how-tos, and more
according to the wishes of those attending.
A Photographers Group meets monthly first Mondays at 10AM at the Hampshire County Public Library.
An Artist of the Month Exhibit is featured on
the balcony of the Hampshire County Public Library.
The
Arts Council has installied a hanging system
in The Bottling Works, where regular exhibits are now scheduled.
Annual events coordinated by the visual arts division of HCAC
include: a Hampshire Heritage Days Open Show, moving to the Hampshire County Public Library in 2008, and the Fall Fine Art & Photography Show,
a juried show with cash awards, being moved to October in 2008. In addition to annual events there
are opportunities for individuals to display their work in local
businesses and at concerts and programs.
