Volunteer Opportunities

(l) has provided goodiesman times at our Annual Meetings
and Annual Art Show Receptions.
Treasurer Jane Plante and Co-DIrector
Nancy Williams help with Arts Council planning and keeping finances
up-to-date.
Everything the Arts Council does, is done by volunteers, Some
volunteers do a lot, some do a little bit. All our volunteers
are busy people, fitting even small jobs into very busy work-family-community
schedules. Every little bit helps and is very much appreciated. As
the adage goes, many hands make light work!
If you think you might be able to help with your own "little
bit",
here are some ways to help you might consider:
Help coordinate an interest group/area
- Identify prospective participants for one of the Arts Council's
interest groups (Ice Mountain Writers, Visual Artists, Photographers,
Musicians, Theater...)
- Schedule gatherings of that interest group
- Help plan agenda/activities for interest group
- Help make those gatherings known to/invite likely participants
Help with general promotion of Arts Council activities
- Help distribute flyers and/or
post signs for Arts Council Events
- Help submit info about Arts Council events to regional
media and on-line calendars
Help with music
- Help plan concerts season
- Help find sponsors for HCAC concerts
- Help write grant applications
- Collect event publicity copies for grant follow up reports
- Help distribute flyers and/or post signs for Arts Council
Events
- Help at the door for concerts
- Distribute & collect and tally feedback surveys at
concerts
Help with visual arts
- Coordinate Heritage Days Art Display (1st week each September)
- Help register Annual
Juried Art Show entries in October
- Sit for 3 hours at the Heritage Days Art Show in September,
greet visitors and provide information
- Sponsor an Art Show award or help find sponsors
- Assist with lining up artists to display at the Library
and/or help hang monthly displays
- Help publicize monthly art displays (take photos, interview
artists and write articles)
Help with art camp
- Help coordinate Art Camp logistics (dates, facility use,
- Help coordinate Art Camp by organizing teachers & the class
schedule
- Help promote Art Camp to prospective campers
- Help with registration of campers
- Teach a class
- Help a teacher prepare materials
- Assist campers during a class
- Prepare and/or help serve snacks
- Take photographs during Art Camp
- Write articles about Art Camp for local media and the
website
Help with arts in education
- Help coordinate Arts In Education programs taking performers,
artists and writers into local schools
- Help write Arts In Education grant applications
- Help find sponsors for taking arts into our schools
- Help coordinate AIE efforts with school staff members
- Serve as a judge for the WV Young Writer's contest each
March
Help with the newsletter
- Write articles
- Help with getting the newsletter getting it copied,
folding, labeling, stamping, taking to the post office)
Help with the website or Arts Alerts
- Write content for our website
- Help compile information for the weekly e-mail Arts Alerts
- Spread the word about the weekly Arts Alerts to friends, co-workers, neighbors
Help with office tasks
- Write Thank You notes
- Organize the Arts Council scrapbook
Help with the Annual Meeting/Member Party/Showcase
- Prepare a special food for the Annual
Meeting in March
- Donate a door prize/Silent Auction item for the Annual Meeting
- Organize the silent auction
- Help line up members to perform during the Showcase
- Help collect and count ballots for annual election
